Cancer therapy is changing rapidly and Tennessee Oncology offers our patients the latest therapies and technologies available. Our patients are able to receive the most innovative investigational and approved treatments in our community-based offices without the need to travel to cancer centers in other parts of the country.
Tennessee Oncology physicians serve as directors of Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) and the Oncology Research Consortium, both nationally recognized for excellence in conducting clinical research. Through our research partnerships, advances have been made in many cancer types with our results presented at national and international conferences and published in the most prestigious cancer journals. Currently, over 500 physicians in 24 states enroll patients in clinical trials developed by Tennessee Oncology physicians through Oncology Research Consortium. In addition, through SCRI, Tennessee Oncology has a drug development program that offers patients access to treatments that are just beginning development. These treatments include new chemotherapy agents, biologics, and strategies specifically targeting either cancer cells or factors involved in cancer cell growth. By participating in our clinical trials program, our patients have the opportunity to receive promising new agents prior to FDA approval.
Many of the treatment regimens that are routinely used today were developed at Tennessee Oncology. While we have made major advances in the treatment of several cancer types, we are committed to improving treatment outcomes for all of our patients, focusing on extending survival and enhancing the quality of life.
