Dr. Couriel is board certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine and has been with Tennessee Oncology since 2007. He was previously employed as an Associate Professor of Medicine, Department of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston . Dr. Couriel also led the clinical research Graft-versus-Host Disease Programs at MD Anderson Cancer Center and was a member of the Institutional Review Board and Clinical Review Committees. Over the last several years he pioneered numerous new therapies in the area of both acute and chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease. Dr. Couriel attended Universidad de Buenos Aires School of Medicine, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Dr. Couriel specializes in allogeneic stem cell transplantation, graft-versus-host disease, hematologic malignancies. He holds memberships in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
Dr. Couriel sees patients at the Tennessee Oncology in the Sarah Cannon Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinic at Centennial Medical Center. Dr. Couriel speaks Spanish, French and English.
