Staff Nurse
PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide cancer patients with safe, quality patient care throughout their treatment and disease process.
MAJOR DUTIES:
a) Mixes chemotherapy and other drugs ordered by physician
b) Administers chemotherapy and other drugs ordered by physician
c) Telephone triage
d) Patient education
e) Patient counseling and referral to appropriate support services under the direction of the physician.
f) Chart preparation
g) Assessment of patient for side effects of treatment and symptoms related to disease or disease progression
h) Documents, on the charge ticket, services performed and medications given to patient
i) Enters the drugs and doses, given to a patient, into the LYNX machine for billing purposes
j) Informs clinic manager of clinic needs and concerns relating to to the work environment
k) Documents in patient chart according to practice guidelines
l) Adheres to practice guidelines
m) Participates on committees as requested of him/her
n) Travels to satellite clinics as necessary
o) Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth
p) Attends all mandatory in-services and meetings
q) Works overtime if there is a need, and supervisor has approved it
r) Assists lab personnel as necessary

REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
a) Must have a valid TN RN license
b) Outpatient facility experience a plus
b) Oncology certification preferable but not necessary
c) Chemotherapy certification a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
a) Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
b) Must be willing and able to travel to satellite clinics.
