The Division of Gynecologic Oncology within Tennessee Oncology consists of specialists who have pursued advanced training in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers in the pelvic reproductive system of women which include ovary, fallopian tube, peritoneum, uterus, cervix, vagina, and vulva. These physicians are uniquely qualified to perform complicated gynecologic surgery, prescribe chemotherapy, and recommend the administration of radiation therapy in the management of gynecologic cancer. In addition, because of their advanced technical expertise, gynecologic oncologists are occasionally called upon to perform certain complex surgical procedures within the field of gynecology which are not related to cancer. Although they are based at the Centennial Medical Center, St. Thomas Medical Center, and the Williamson County Medical Center, often they are able to coordinate multi step cancer care by communicating and consulting with medical and radiation oncology therapists either within or outside of the extensive network of Tennessee Oncology physicians and offices so that patients who live at a distance from these locations may receive a portion of their cancer care closer to home. Clinical Trial enrollment options are available through Tennessee Oncology for gynecologic cancer patients.
