Celebrating Cancer Survivors
Shelbyville TImes-Gazette
American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bedford County hosted its annual Cancer Survivor and Caregiver dinner on Tuesday evening at First Christian Church. American Cancer Society staff partner Harriett Stewart and Nurse Practitioner Tiffany Locke of Tennessee Oncology spoke at the event, and Annette Bowling provided entertainment.
The main Relay event will take place June 1-2 at Bedford County Agriculture and Education Center. Teams of walkers will remain on the track for an 18-hour period, but there will be a festival-like atmosphere for spectators as well, with many of the participating teams offering concessions or activities.
The cancer survivor calendar will be available for purchase at the Relay on June 1. If you'd like to submit a survivor's photo for the calendar, you may email an image to Stewart at harriett.stewart@cancer.org.
Proceeds from the Relay For Life and the various team, committee and individual fundraisers which feed into it are used by the American Cancer Society for medical research, patient services, education and advocacy in the fight against cancer.
