Dr.
Shepard has been with Tennessee
Oncology since 2008. He chose
hematology and oncology because
he admired his mentors in practice
who showed great compassion and
skill helping people with the
most serious illness. He specializes
in all types of adult cancer
and blood disorders. He has interests
in improving patient doctor communication,
pain management, and myeloproliferative
disorders such as polycythemia
vera. He has performed laboratory
and clinical research on the
latter. Dr. Shepard graduated
from Sewanee, the University Of
The South with B.A. in English,
attended medical school at the
University of Tennessee in Memphis,
and completed internal medicine
residency and fellowship at Wake
Forest University Medical Center
in North Carolina. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Shepard sees
patient in the St.
Thomas office and the Lawrenceburg office. He
is married, has two children,
likes to hike Tennessee mountains,
and writes poetry, some of which
